Large-scale Russian Attacks Disrupt Electricity In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were hurt while local people in eastern districts were left without electricity and encountered problems to water systems, as stated by municipal leaders.

At the same time, a minor was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, according to area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated assaults on electrical systems over the past few days, while officials has called for "substantial measures" from international partners to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the US, the EU and the G7 - in delivering protection systems and implementing restrictions," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles attacked the country's power systems, labeling such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were laboring to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes damaged electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the attacks on the city have been hospitalized, as confirmed by city authorities.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region endured heavy assaults throughout the evening. A minor lost their life and multiple civilians were injured.

The strikes come after periods of aerial attacks in the region, parts of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to spot.

Government officials told journalists that Russia was intentionally trying to destroy the national power system, with strikes already affecting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and officials were bracing for further attacks.
